What’s Going On
This video represents most of my life, and the man singing this song died on a day when I was at work in an office in Philadelphia. The world stopped, just as it did when Rev. King died, and when John Lennon died. This song pretty much says it al – nothing more needs saying and the video – well, it says it even better. ~K

Inauguration 2009
January 23, 2009
Ok, I admit, I weep whenever I watch this. I don’t know why. I wept when George W. Bush was inaugurated, but for different reasons – I campaigned for Gore, and unlike some, I thought Al Gore was top notch. In this election, I wanted to see a woman in office, as president or vice-president, and I liked Obama from the start, but was bitterly disapointed when he did not choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate. The thought, however, of Obama as president has had its euphoric effects on me, Vice President Biden is so easy to like, and Hillary has her post, and work cut out for her.
Finally! It feels like something tremendous has happened, here. It feels as if the wheels of time have turned in the right direction. President Bush’s graciousness made me feel grateful, as well. This week I have felt a pride in our country that I haven’t felt for a long time. It’s only fitting, then, that I post this video of the Inauguration of 2009. The sea of people, the happiness, the bitter cold warmed by the jubilant cheers – well, it’s a memory I’ll never forget. Kind of like the time, for Independence Day, I stood in front of Harry S. Truman’s house for the Independence Day Parade in Independence, Missouri, and the President, by that time, old and frail, holding a cane, came out to carefully pick up his newspaper, stopped, turned, and waved at those of us who were there.
This week was glorious, and I hope this feeling stays with us for a long time.Thank you, President Obama, and bless your family, your administration, and our country.

Peace!

I am a white, middle-class, Protestant (though my spiritual beliefs are very wide), Irish, English, blessed, safe, grateful, and I am one of billions, billions who are tired of the blistering conflict in the Middle East.
No one can be so wrong, or so right that lives are extinguished like nothing in a single moment.
Even I can feel it in my bones, and it makes me very weary. We are human beings, first. We must share this planet, and we can.
,
Enough of war, please, leaders.
.
Children are dying, mothers weeping, fathers losing everything they’ve worked for, and the soldiers just want to go home.
